ALIX MARKS, STUDIO OWNER
I was born and raised in the Santa Ynez Valley where I grew up dancing primarily ballet at the Los Olivos Dance Gallery. It was through dance where I realized how healing movement was for me. After graduating I danced for Santa Barbara’s Fusion Dance Company for two years before retiring due to a knee injury.
Shortly after, I discovered Pilates and I immediately fell in love with the work. It allowed for me to continue my love for movement in a way that supported my body and felt safe. In 2014 I studied under BASI (Body Arts and Science International) where I was guided by the Director of Education, Candace Holder. In 2018 I dove deeper into the field and got my comprehensive certification with PEI (Pilates Education Institute). In 2021 I opened my own studio where I teach one on one sessions working with the Pilates apparatus. It was here where I utilized my skills in helping people build strength, flexibility, and confidence in their movements. Throughout the years I have expanded on my passion by taking specialized courses for osteopenia, foot health, and trauma therapy to name a few. My mission as an instructor is to provide an exercise regime to improve a persons quality of life through foundational movement. All while providing the support and utmost care to the individual’s goals and needs. I am passionate about helping people live a life free from pain (physical or emotional) and help them feel connected to their bodies in a way they never have before.
