She is a stickler for form, knows when to push you and is very aware of anatomy and injuries and has helped me in so many ways I can’t even list them all!   • I am a 71 year old male who has spent his entire life, 54 years, in the construction industry. It has been a very hands on approach; I do not have someone doing the work for me. I am literally in the trenches. Although, I am in good health I have never done anything in the way of exercise or stretching to prolong my mobility. That all changed 3 years ago when I started to take Pilates. At first, it was a challenge to try to preform the exercises correctly with the right technique. Primarily for 2 reasons; I was unfamiliar with the positions I was asking my body to be in and I had not yet developed the inner core strength to sustain those positions while exercising. Gradually, as I developed that strength, the exercises got easier and easier. So naturally the instructor began challenging me with more and more difficult exercises, but easier to learn because of the building blocks learned in the earlier stages. I have to admit, from someone who disdains excise, the results were incredible. The increase in the range of motion, especially in my back, was amazing. Yes, I still had aches and pains and stiffness in my joints, but I was able to alleviate most of them by stretching for just a few minutes. Probably, the most convincing anecdote I can relay is this one. I used to play a lot of golf, but as I got older my game deteriorated to the point where I was satisfied just breaking 100. Last month I shot an 87. I do Pilates stretches before and during the round and it keeps my back flexible and allows me to strike the ball without any discomfort. Needless to say, it has improved the quality of my life a lot beyond my ability to play golf. I would recommend Pilates to everyone.
